Hirschmann™ demonstrates its technology leadership in ultra-fast redundancy protocols for industrial networks at embedded world conference 2013 in Nuremberg


When it comes to developing pioneering technologies for industrial Ethernet network devices, Hirschmann™ has always played a trailblazing role. Hirschmann™ is continuing this tradition through its involvement in the development and international standardization (IEC 62439-3) of the new PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol) and HSR (High-Availability Seamless Redundancy) redundancy protocols. The conference program includes a presentation about the technology behind the PRP and HSR redundancy methods, by our expert Ralf Kaptur. Speaking on February 27 during Session 15 (11.00- 11.30), he will be focusing on the possible areas of application for these two completely interruption-free protocols. These range from hardware and software implementations in automation devices, right through to applications that can benefit from the significantly higher levels of network availability. New areas of application will emerge above all through the combination of seamless redundancy mechanisms with Wi-Fi networks (IEEE 802.11n), in the sphere of safety-related controllers, for example.

We will also be exhibiting the EES25 embedded Ethernet switch from Hirschmann™ at our partner's stand (port GmbH, hall 1/1-636). Equipped with a high-performance FPGA chip and a new operating system, the EES25 is one of the first embedded modules worldwide to combine the functional scope of a managed stand-alone switch with the PRP/HSR interruption-free redundancy methods and precise time synchronization.
